Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow follows the story of a young girl known only as "the lass," who is the daughter of a poor family in a northern village. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she is offered a chance to escape a life of servitude and harsh conditions. She is summoned to the castle of a mysterious white bear, who is actually under an enchantment that transforms him into a bear. The lass learns that the bear needs her help to break the spell that binds him. Despite initial fears, the lass is intrigued and agrees to travel with the bear to his enchanted home, where she learns about the magical world surrounding him. As she becomes more entwined in his world, she is faced with the complexities of trust, loyalty, and love.

Over time, the lass discovers that her feelings for the bear are far more profound than she anticipated, and she must confront difficult challenges, including betrayal and deceit. As the story unfolds, the lass learns that the curse is linked to her own family’s history and that she may hold the key to breaking the enchantment. Throughout the journey, she encounters a series of magical beings, including powerful spirits and creatures of legend, all of whom play a part in her quest. The novel weaves together elements of classic fairy tales, such as "East of the Sun, West of the Moon," with themes of self-discovery and courage. Ultimately, the lass must choose between staying in the magical world or returning to her roots, while grappling with her love for the bear and the powerful magic that binds them.
